Behind the brand

Hello! I'm Caroline Kennedy, the founder and designer behind Sanctuary, my inaugural collection of fine jewelry. With a passion for art and nature, I’ve combined my love for watercolor painting and the delicate beauty of Prince Edward Island to create a unique line of jewelry that resonates with elegance and purpose.

Sanctuary features pieces crafted from 14-karat and 18-karat Canadian gold, as well as sterling silver. These materials have been selected not only for their quality but also for their connection to the Canadian landscape, much like the inspiration behind my designs. Each piece in the collection is inspired by the flora and fauna of Prince Edward Island, particularly the endangered species I’ve come to cherish.

Living next to a protected piping plover chick nesting zone during the summers sparked my journey from painting to jewelry design. The plight and beauty of these small birds, especially the piping plover chick, became a focal point of my work. My collection includes pieces like 'Whisper' (piping plover chick), 'Marram Grass Movement' (marram grass), 'Flutter' (hummingbird), and 'Flight' (two adult plovers flying together), each capturing the ethereal and luxurious essence I strive to embody in my creations.

I believe that jewelry should feel both precious and timeless, and it’s my hope that wearing these pieces brings a sense of elegance that lasts a lifetime. Additionally, 5% of all profits from Sanctuary will benefit Island Nature Trust, supporting the conservation efforts for the very species that inspired my work.
